Marilyn Canon Harris, 80, of West Chester, Pa., died March 8, 2015.

Born in New Castle, Pa. in 1934, she was the daughter of the late C. Wayne and Elizabeth Haering Canon.

Marilyn is survived by husband James T. Harris; daughters, Elizabeth M. Helmich (Robert) of West Chester, and Nancy H. Marvel (Paul) of Malvern; grandaughters, Katherine Helmich, Julia Helmich and Kristen Marvel.

Marilyn was a Registered Nurse who taught at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. She loved animals, especially birds and cats, enjoyed traveling, music and playing the organ. She was involved in various volunteer activities including the SPCA and Chester County Hospital.

She was the 71st classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After her name in the Yearbook, it reads:
Senatus Romanus 11-12, German Club 11-12, Y-teens 10-12, Guidance Committee 12, Perfect Attendance 10.      

Alexander Griffin Beck, 81, of Greer, South Carolina, died March 6, 2015.

Born in New Castle, Pa., he was a son of the late Griffin Hugh and Iva Parks Beck.

Alex attended Penn State University and received his B.A. from Kent State University. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired after a career in industrial financing with GE and ITT. Following his retirement, he and wife Joanne relocated to the Upstate. They enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and the beach.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joanne, at home; sons, Thomas A. Beck and wife, Lydia of Campobello, and Kurt D. Beck of Greer; brothers, Donald and James Beck; and granddaughter, Ashley Hammond.
